  • We had a W4 like that; great tractor. We also had an IH pickup like that, except it was cream colored - everyone in the country knew who that pickup belonged to!

  • That seeding operation was on the IH Experimental farm south of Hinsdale Illinois. The farmstead in the distance was the Luther Rogers Hinsdale Farm. I went to grade school with the children of the manager of that farm. The trees just to the right of the farmstead were along Plainfield Rd (gravel when I was a youngster, now a paved 4 lane road with stop lights.) I hit a skunk with the family car on my way home one night about where those trees are. Where the W-4, drill, & pick-up are close to where the west end of the IH FEREC building is. To the left of the machinery now are many business and commercial buildings, to the right is a large subdivision. 60 years makes quite a difference in land use. My family lived on the IH Farm 'til I was about 14 years old, Dad worked there.
